Századvég Foundation was established to reflect the intellectual image of the young generation that played an active part in the regime-change in Hungary. First undertaking to publish journals and then books, the Foundation has been striving to present the values of progress in Hungary and European development patterns. The founders, i.e. the generation of former students attending specialised college courses, have played an in important role in creating the new democratic rule of law and market economy in the country. The Founders established Századvég Foundation to enable high quality education in political science that also takes practical needs into account; to promote a democratic culture in politics; to facilitate the self-organising efforts and effective interest representation of civil society; to support new directions in research into social sciences; to offer scholarships to help minority students and young researchers living outside the country’s borders engage in scientific activities.
