The North American Women’s Association (NAWA) of Budapest is dedicated to fostering a sense of community among North Americans and offering a forum for members to interact with the local community through events and charitable activities. By providing opportunities to connect with others, the association aims to encourage friendship and help members make the most of their stays in Hungary. The Association is non-profit and run by volunteers who organize a variety of social events and outings where members can meet, share experiences and learn more about their host country, culture and customs.
The International Women’s Club Association of Budapest (IWCA) is a non-profit, charitable organization founded in 1981 by a group of enterprising women from the international and diplomatic communities in Budapest. Today, the Association has more than 230 members representing more than 35 nationalities. The main purpose of the organization is to sponsor and support charitable activities related to health care and education in Hungary, and especially to support hospitals and children suffering from disease or disability. In addition, the organization promotes the development of good relationships between women of the international community and the host country in order to increase their knowledge of the people and the culture of Hungary.
One of the main objectives of the BWA is to provide a welcome forum for British women and their families when they arrive in Hungary and provide a continued support network throughout their stay. The Association organises a varied social calendar to suit all ages, from coffee mornings, lunches, outings and parties. The BWA supports various charities in Hungary, by providing essential items necessary for the welfare of the children. The BWA charity initiatives include holding fundraising events, monthly book/magazine sales, donations of food stuffs, clothing/toys/household items etc.
The Professional Women's Association of Budapest (PWA) is focused on promoting women in the professional arena throughout Hungary. The group consists of both Hungarian and international women. PWA hold monthly gathering which alternate between purely networking events and a mini-MBA program which offers lectures on current hot topics for women in the area.
