The aims of their programme are to provide a wide range of educational activities in a relaxed, secure atmosphere; to promote social and personal skills within the group situation; to foster self confidence and self awareness in this transition between the family unit and school, and to encourage language development as each child explores and orders his environment. While English speaking children will be able to move about in a familiar situation, the Hungarians will be absorbing, rather than learning a second language. Since Hungarian culture is very much present in the daily activities, the Hungarian children are prepared for moving up to primary school education in Hungary. At the same time, the offspring of an English speaking family might profit from mixing with this culture by learning some simple Hungarian rhymes and games.
