The Ifjú Szivek Hungarian Folkdance Ensemble was established in 1955 to continue the work of its predecessor, the "Népes" Professional Folkdance Ensemble. The Ifjú Szivek took up the tasks of collecting, archiving and staging the traditional folkdances and music of the Carpathian Basin. This region rich in folk traditions, incorporates the heritage of Hungarians, Slavs, Romanians and Gypsies. While focusing on the Hungarian heritage, the Ensemble also showcases the vibrant dances and music of these different nationalities.
This ensemble was established at the Galanta Hungarian Language Basic School area in October 1, 1996. It plays chamber and folk music. Object of the aim is to continue traditions that were characterized with the "esztrád" -like cultural movement alive at the Galanta Secondary School since the 1970. This movement resulted at least 25 instrumentalist during the last 30 years. Among them are musicians, who are the members of such ensembles like Ghýmes, Fakó or Bendő, today.
