Maria Nagy, founder of Obuda, grew up in Hungary. In 1972, Maria left Budapest, Hungary and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where she continued serving traditional Hungarian dishes to her beloved family. Since 2000, Maria has been donating her catering services to local organizations to supplement their fund raiser auctions. From there, Maria began providing Hungarian desserts to local Atlanta European delis and coffee shops, as well as taking individual orders on special occasions. In response to the growing demand, Maria officially launched Obuda in mid-2005 offering authentic Hungarian desserts and in-home catering services.
The restaurant has been serving Clevelander's and tourists coming to Cleveland since 1964. Balaton Restaurant in Cleveland is most famous for it's superb Wiener Schnitzel and a variance of that, the Chicken Schnitzel. Other fine offerings on the menu include: Stuffed Cabbages, Goulash Soup, and the Hungarian Lecso, a yellow bell peppers and tomato based summer stew. Meals then culminated with a delightful dessert, not too sweet but, just right. There is home made blincess, or Palacsinta with apricot, walnut, sweet cottage cheese, or poppy seed fillings. For those of the legal age, we are bringing simply good wine from the gentle hills of the Lake Balaton region.

Chicago, October 17th, 1995: Paprikàsh Restaurant opened its doors to the dreams of two men with one vision. The vision was to see their families’ soul-warming traditional recipes, passed down through generations of Hungarians, shared with the world… or at least with the citizens of Chicagoland. Twelve years later, in Arlington Heights (close to the Arlington Park Racetrack and the Metra Station, at 602 W Northwest Highway) that vision is still alive, and as strong as the garlic in the langòs and the thickness of the Beef Goulash.

Located in the historic downtown area of San Pedro, California, Mishi's Strudel Bakery & Café is a little taste of Europe where you're sure to enjoy homemade, handcrafted delights in our comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. While Mishi's Strudel is crafted out of tradition, history, and good old-fashioned family love and care, the history of Hungarian strudel itself, is one of great cultural pride. The paper-thin strudel dough, which experts say must be stretched thin enough to read through, is a frequently sweet, but occasionally savory pastry, which is filled, rolled and then baked.
