Magyar Televízió is Hungary's national public-service television. It was established pursuant to the Hungarian Parliament Act I of 1996 on radio and television broadcasting as the successor of the Hungarian Television, a state enterprise founded in 1957. he station currently broadcasts on two channels. Its first channel, m1, fulfilling the role of the main national channel, is a terrestrial program. The second channel, m2, is transmitted over EUTELSAT's HotBird3 satellite.
