The Ifjú Szivek Hungarian Folkdance Ensemble was established in 1955 to continue the work of its predecessor, the “Népes” Professional Folkdance Ensemble. The Ifjú Szivek took up the tasks of collecting, archiving and staging the traditional folkdances and music of the Carpathian Basin. This region rich in folk traditions, incorporates the heritage of Hungarians, Slavs, Romanians and Gypsies. While focusing on the Hungarian heritage, the Ensemble also showcases the vibrant dances and music of these different nationalities.
